Douglas R. Souders

July 2nd, 1957 – February 23rd, 2024

Douglas Reed Souders of Riegelsville, PA, departed this plane of existence on Friday, February 23, 2024. He was sixty-six years old.

Doug was born to the late Earl Roger Souders and Frances Marie (Lesnett) Souders in Morristown, NJ, on July 2, 1957. Doug grew up in Whippany, NJ, raised his family in Chatham, NJ, and enjoyed five years in California before finding his dream home in Riegelsville, PA, in 2012.

Doug earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. He worked as a software engineer with VMWare in Palo Alto, CA, for sixteen years, retiring in 2023. Doug was a musician, playing guitar and piano often, a devoted fan of local radio. He enjoyed recreational target shooting, pinball, working on his vintage pinball machines, and playing backgammon with his closest friends. He was an incredible conversationalist, chef, and connoisseur of richly spiced cuisine, especially Thai food, and had a strong moral code. Doug always made Christmas special as he played Christmas music on the piano, mastered the art of gift-giving, and ensured there was plenty of food, being extra attentive to everyone’s dietary needs. He was an anchor for his family, was incredibly sincere, and was a sensitive soul.

Doug met the love of his life, Beverley, in 1981, and they married in 1983, and together, they fulfilled his lifelong dream of raising a family. Their three beautiful children were instilled with strong values, especially in education and morality. He is survived by his wife Beverley, his son Michael Souders and wife Jessica, and daughters Sarah Souders and Erin Souders. Doug is also survived by his loving sister Carol Biolsi and husband Kevin. His dear brother David Souders passed away in 2020 and is survived by his partner Larry Stegent. Doug was so proud of becoming a grandad to Emmeline and Liam Souders. Doug loved being a brother-in-law to Dennis Price, Dennise Drennan, and Michael Price and uncle to Dennis, Eric, Jacob, Kyle, Lauren, and Megan.

The family will receive their friends at the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA, on Thursday, March 21st, 10:00-11:00 am, with a service to begin at 11:00 am.
