Linda Oldford (nee Parsons)
November 12th, 1947 – August 29th, 2025


It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Linda Oldford (nee Parsons) at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Friday, August 29, 2025 at the age of 77.
She leaves to mourn her loving husband of 55 years, Thomas; her children, Dale (Tanya), Keith (Beverly), Sharon (Colin) and Nancy (Denis) and her adored grandchildren, Abbey, Rebecca, Adrien, Eric, Gavin, Mila and Meara.
She is also survived by her siblings Elizabeth Keating (Francis), Dianne Stamp (Jimmy), Jack Parsons (Marg), Keith Parsons (Dianne), Gary Parsons (Trudy), Aiden Parsons, Margie Morey (Wayne Moores), and Mary Parsons; her inlaws Gertie Oldford, Bob Oldford , Burt Oldford (Lynne), Winsor Oldford (Jean), Judy Oldford, Dot Hynes (Bob), Judy Oldford, Leona Dyke (Carl), Theresa Adams (Byron), Marvin Oldford (Mona), Gary Oldford (Myrtle) and Beverly Norris (Eric), Clemmie Parsons, Terri Parsons, Colette Parsons and Dianne Parsons. She will also be fondly remembered by a wide circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Predeceased by her parents Mamie and Frank Parsons; mother and father-in-law Myrtle and Maynard Oldford; brothers Gordon Parsons , Doug Parsons (Marilyn), Eddie Parsons , Frances Parsons and Teddy Parsons, sisters in law Elsie Ryder (Allen) and Louise Oldford and brothers in law, William Oldford, Albert Oldford and Doug Oldford.
Linda left an immeasurable impact during her 77 years. Working as a nurse at the Burin Cottage Hospital and later at the obstetrics ward at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre she cared for countless families and welcomed many new lives into the world. Linda had a deep love of learning, and she cherished reading, crafting, quilting, gardening and preparing countless meals that brought family and friends together. Becoming a grandmother, her role shifted to passing her teachings onto her grandchildren, sharing her love of books, learning, cooking and caring. She will be missed by all who were privileged to feel her love.
Visitation will be held on September 3, 2025 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00PM from Serenity Funeral Home 95 Main Street Burin.
Funeral service will be held on September 4, 2025 at 11:00AM from Serenity Chapel, Burin.
The family extends their gratitude to the staff at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre for the care and comfort of Linda during her recent illnesses. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
