Guy Evans

March 2, 1947 – March 26. 2020

Guy Evans, age 73, passed away peacefully December 17, 2020 due to diabetes and congestive heart failure. He was born March 2, 1947 in Ooltewah, Tennessee to Carl and Annie Lynn. He eloped and married his longtime friend and love, Jane Smith, in October of 1960 who preceded his in death in 1994.

Guy loved to love on people. He sewed dolls and little quilted sayings constantly. His hands were rarely still. Raggedy Annes and Andies were his favorites. He also shared his love with food such as fresh cut fries for his grandsons, lasagna and real fried chicken.

For many years Guy worked at Atria/Crosslands Retirement Community in Sandy. It suited his servant heart. He said he did it because of a promise he made his grandpa, Thomas Bush. He used to always say: “Do what’s right and do what’s good. Be kind and help others. The world can always use one more kind person. And if you can take it one step further, please do it for people grandpa’s age.”

His life was a living example of his favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
